Your dog does understand you

RATHER than think you're barking mad, your dog can actually understand you.

Researchers in Hungary have used an MRI scanner to analyse the brain activity of dogs and confirm they can understand the words we say as well as how we say them.

A study published in the Journal of Science showed that canines' brains process words with the left hemisphere and use the right hemisphere to process intonation - just as humans do.

The study found positive words spoken in a positive tone had the strongest reaction in the brain's reward centres.
