Heroes rescue woman from submerged car in ditch

Four men are being hailed as heroes after dragging a woman from the submerged wreck of her vehicle on a busy Sunshine Coast road this morning.

Witnesses said the woman lost control of her car on the Nicklin Way, near the Beerburrum St intersection, and slid into a drainage ditch.

She was trapped underwater and unable to free herself but the three young men, who were travelling in a  vehicle behind her, rushed to her aid.

"They jumped into the water and freed her," a witness said.

"They saved her life."
