Young guns in the finals after Kerrie and Craig's MKR exit
COMEBACK Kitchen gets a big thumbs down from My Kitchen Rules' latest evictees Kerri and Craig Palmer.
The husband-and-wife team from Melbourne missed out on a spot in the reality cooking competition's finals week after losing tonight's sudden death cook-off against health-mad personal trainers Luke and Scott.
Just like last night's evictees Ashlee Pham and Sophia Pou, the couple received a mysterious letter inviting them to the secret second-chance competition at judge Colin Fassnidge's Surry Hills restaurant.
In the new twist, one eliminated team will earn a spot back in the MKR finals week.
"I was actually pretty cross when we first found out," Kerri said.
"When we walked in I was more thinking 'I would not like to be the other teams sitting back there (in Kitchen HQ) thinking I'm doing all the hard work'."
Kerri said she would feel "mean" walking back into Kitchen HQ after getting eliminated.
"I guess I'm fair," she said.
"They've worked so hard to get to a pole position."
She said her brain had "already left the kitchen" when she and Craig donned their aprons in Comeback Kitchen.
"I was desperate to get home to see our new grandson," she said.
"The good part of getting kicked out was to get to go home and seeing him."
The couple quickly became the parental figures of the competition, and the teary farewell they received tonight was a stark contrast to the joy expressed after the departure of "villains" Ashlee and Sophia.
Kerri said she was particularly close to Queensland's Jake and Elle, with whom they competed in their instant restaurant round, and Dan and Steph.
But she plans to go into business with fellow Victorian Chris once the shows finishes.
"He and I are starting our own catering group," she said.
"Chris is an old soul in a young body. He's got a lot of the same ideas as me and we like the same sort of things."
My Kitchen Rules continues on Sunday at 6.30pm on Channel 7.
