Yasi downgraded to Category 4
CYCLONE Yasi has been downgraded to a Category 4 system as it continues to sweep inland after crossing the coast.
The huge storm is expected to continue its run as far as Mt Isa, carrying high winds and pelting rain on its path.
There are fears the rain will extend to the Northern Territory and South Australia, and possibly Victoria, with the potential to cause a new round of flooding across much of the nation.
Meteorologist are monitoring it closely and have issued flood warnings for some North Queensland rivers.
