Woman punches, gouges police officer with her nails

A PITTSWORTH police officer has charged a woman with serious assault after she allegedly dug her nails into his arm during a disturbance last night.

Senior Constable Stephen Johnson said he was called to a Cunningham St disturbance in the town about 10.30pm.

He said the woman punched him in the head before gouging his left arm with her fingernails.

The wounds weren't cause for hospitalisation but did leave marks on his arm.

The 34-year-old woman, who was at a relative's house at the time, was charged with serious assault of a police officer.

She is due to appear in Pittsworth Magistrates Court on February 28.
