Woman arrested for punching, breaking windows

AN off-duty police officer has arrested a woman for damaging two buildings in Ballina.

Police allege that about 10:30am on Friday a 28-year-old Victorian woman entered Woolworths Ballina.

She allegedly punched a window causing it to break, then walked out.

She has then punched a window of the Westpac bank, causing it to break as well.

While breaking the windows she was acting in an irrational manner, yelling and swearing.

An off-duty officer has seen this incident and placed the woman under arrest.

The woman was charged at Ballina Police Station with two counts of Destroy property.

She will appear in Lismore Local Court on Saturday.
