Woman accused of making, sharing child exploitation material

A MACKAY woman has been accused of making and distributing child exploitation material.

The 39-year-old, who we cannot name to protect the identity of others involved, faced Mackay Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

She appeared via videolink from prison for the brief mention, facing four charges linked to Mackay.

Charges were distributing child exploitation material, making child exploitation material, possessing child exploitation material and possessing tainted property (a mobile phone).

The three charges relating to child exploitation material are dated between May 1, 2016 and March 14, 2017, and no pleas had been entered, court documents showed.

Defence solicitor Erin Beer, of Legal Aid Queensland, was acting as town agent for Barron & Allen Lawyers.

Ms Beer told Magistrate Scott Luxton she had instructions the woman's charges would proceed by way of registry committal.

The lawyer added a four-week adjournment was needed for further instructions to be made.

Mr Luxton noted the woman's charges had previously been subject to long adjournments.

But he adjourned for three weeks, until early October, remanding the woman in custody.

As the woman's link was about to be disconnected, a man wandered closer to the screen and muttered "she's gone" as the screen went black.
