Woman, 60, drowns while snorkelling

A WOMAN has drowned off Lady Elliot Island while snorkelling.

Around 10am yesterday the 60-year-old went snorkelling with three other people.

Around 11.30am she became distressed and an alarm was raised.

It took 20 minutes to get her back to the beach, where CPR commenced and Triple 0 was called.

Tragically paramedics pronounced her deceased when they arrived.
