Wife of missing Noosa surfer in disbelief

NOOSA Heads man Peter Maynard has been reporting missing off a Balinese island, with police describing it as a "mystery disappearance".

News Corp reports Mr Maynard was due to check out of his Bali hotel last Thursday but when hotel staff searched for him they found an unoccupied room with almost all of his personal possessions - including his phone, wallet and surfboards - abandoned and untouched.

He was visiting the Nusa Indah Bungalo on the island of Nusa Lembongan, off Bali.

The Sunshine Coast man was at the hotel from August 23, due to leave on August 28.

Peter's wife Kylie Maynard told News Corp he had three surfboards with him but she believed there were only two found in the room along with his other belongings.

Fighting back tears while waiting to board her flight to Denpasar, Mrs Maynard spoke of her disbelief at her husband's disappearance.

"I am doing as well as can be expected,'' she said.

Mrs Maynard said it was not unusual for Mr Maynard to go on surfing trips without his family when the children were in school.

The resort describes itself as a "personal little seaside paradise" that offers to help guests "feel the same enchantment that we do".
