A MAN charged with murdering his 22-month-old son was sexting several women on the day of the boy's death, according to new court testimony.
Justin Ross Harris of Georgia in the United States is charged with both murder and child cruelty, accused of leaving his son Cooper in a hot car intentionally on June 18.
Cobb Country Police Detective Phil Stoddard told the local courthouse Harris had visited sites advocating a "child free" life and searched "how to survive prison" before Cooper's death.
The detective told the court Harris sexted six women including a 17-year-old.
The sexual nature of the messaging means Harris may now also be charged with felony sexual exploitation of a minor and midemeanour illegal contact with a minor.
After being denied bond, Harris will now remain in prison until his next appearance on July 15.
Harris left young Cooper in the car when he arrived at work, telling police he forgot to take the 22-month old to daycare.
An autopsy has listed the boy's cause of death as homicide.
