Whian Whian protester allegedly assaulted

A PROTESTER at a logging site on private property at Whian Whian was taken to Lismore Base Hospital this morning after he was allegedly attacked.

Protesters claim on Facebook the man, who was camping near a camp kitchen near the logging site, had his tent slashed before he was dragged from the tent and allegedly assaulted.

A NSW Ambulance spokeswoman said paramedics were called to Whian Whian Rd at 9.15pm following reports a man had been injured.

"Paramedics treated a 40-year-old man for chest injuries and lacerations to his face," she said.

"He initially declined to be transported to hospital and then paramedics were called back to the scene."

The spokeswoman said the man was then transported to hospital at 12.30am in a stable condition.
