THINGS would be boring in the small town of Weld if George settled down and lived happily ever after.

In the mid-season return of Channel 7's hit family comedy drama 800 Words, Erik Thomson's character George's kiss with Fiona (Michelle Langstone) quickly becomes headline news.

But their fledgling romance could be over before it starts when Fiona clashes with her estranged husband and George finds out his ex Jan (Bridie Carter) is pregnant.

The cast and crew are heading back to New Zealand next month to start filming the third season of the Logie Award-winning show, which follows widowed George's adventures when he moves, with his two teenage children begrudgingly in tow, from Sydney to a remote seaside town where he used to holiday as a child.

Thomson, who also serves as an associate producer on the show, says he's thrilled for his character George to be a role model for men when it comes to expressing emotions and showing affection.

800 Words returns tonight at 9pm on Channel 7.
