USHER is not returning to 'The Voice' USA next season.

The 'Scream' hitmaker - who replaced Cee Lo Green on the judging panel of the reality TV show this year - has reportedly signed on to star in a movie so is unable to renew his contract with the NBC series but may return in the future.

A source told UsMagazine.com: "Usher is doing a movie, so he couldn't do season five if they wanted him to."

Cee Lo, 38, is expected to take back his spot from the 34-year-old father-of-two and return to the series alongside Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and fellow original judge Christina Aguilera, who will also be back on the show next year.

A mole told The Wrap that Christina - who left the show in 2012 after three seasons to promote her latest album 'LOTUS' - is expected to return this autumn after signing a deal worth a rumoured $17 million.

The 32-year-old blonde beauty was asked to come back to the show because her replacement Shakira wants a break to spend time with her four-month-old son Milan.

The source added: "Shakira wants to take a season off to take care of the baby. She has an option to come back too."

Christina previously admitted her decision to step back from the series to focus on her music career was "bittersweet."

She explained: "I so enjoy being a coach to my team on 'The Voice' [and] at this point in season three, all of us coaches have truly bonded."

But she added: "We're artists first. In order to remain great coaches and to stay relevant, we have to go out and we have to still tour, see our fans one-on-one.

"I have to feel creatively fulfilled in order for me to then do my job as a coach and be on that show."

The current line-up of NBC's singing competition, which also features Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, has proved a hit with audiences and ratings are at an all-time high.

Producer Matt Burnett confirmed Shakira's departure and explained change was a natural progress when working with successful recording artists.

He told Deadline: "Everybody can't coach for life because when you have people with current recording in the game, this is not their job.

"Their job is their fans and making music and being live, and so we knew from the beginning that this would happen, and we've had six coaches. They all have another life and their schedules."
