A VIDEO of dolphins 'surfing' waves at Byron Bay shared on social media on Friday has gone viral.

Professional photographer and artist Shean O'Shea posted the video to his 129,000 Facebook Likers captioned:

"Surfs Up!....and the Byron Bay dolphins are putting on a master class in surfing!".

The 43 second video captures a pod of dolphins playfully jumping through the waves, to the cheers of excited onlookers.

Viewers labelled the footage, viewed over 25,000 times in less than 24-hours, "awesome, just awesome".
