Video captures pilot dodging disaster

THIS quick-thinking pilot averted an almost-certain catastrophe after realising a plane had taxied on to the runway as he was coming in to land.

It is believed the Boeing 767 from Russian airline Utair was approaching the strip at Spain's El Prat Airport on Saturday just as an Aerolineas Argentinas Airbus 340 bound for Buenos Aires crossed its path.

The footage was captured by plane watcher Miguel Ángel and has now been watched more than four million times.

Accoring to Mr Ángel's description on the video, "By the time russian pilots sight Argentinas (they were taxiing to Holding point of RW25R for take-off) on runway while they were on final approach, they did their best making an impressive and close go around".

"After that incident the plane landed safely on runway 02, and the Argentinas took-off heading Buenos Aires."
