Victory still reeling from 'slap in the face'

FOOTBALL: The Melbourne Victory isn't intending to remain out of the winner's circle for long.

After its run of six successive victories was brought to a crashing halt by the Wellington Phoenix on Tuesday, the Victory travels to Perth to take on the Glory.

"You see it happen to teams every week - you're a little bit off and take things for granted slightly and then you find yourself in a hole you can't dig yourself out of,” Victory coach Kevin Muscat said.

"That won't happen tomorrow night in Perth.

"We'll freshen the team up, get more energy into the team and we'll go across to Perth with a clear intent to take three points.”

Muscat's hopes are high despite this being the Victory's third game in eight days.

Jason Geria and Fahid Ben Khalfallah will have an enforced rest after their suspensions.

"Everyone's putting their hand up wanting to play tomorrow night, no one is saying it's too tough,” Muscat said.

"We took a little bit of a slap in the face on Tuesday night and we're looking for a reaction tomorrow night.”

Jai Ingham is one who may need to step up in the midfield.

"He's had some international travel with New Zealand, we've just got to monitor (him) and see where he's at,” Muscat said.

The Glory, which has lost centre-back Alex Grant to a foot injury, is coming off a 2-2 draw against the Newcastle Jets.

Today: Phoenix v Roar, 4.35pm; Glory v Victory, 7pm (times AEST)
