Umbilical Brothers put their spin on Disney stories
THE Umbilical Brothers return to our screens today to entertain children and adults alike.
The Aussie comedy duo joins the third season of the Disney Jr series The Book of Once Upon A Time to "weird things up".
Set within the Disney 'Story Room', the locally-produced television series treats children and their families to humorous interpretations of more than a dozen Disney classics including Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Cars and Frozen.
The Umbilical Brothers - Shane Dundas and David Collins - will act as both narrators and actors in each story.
"During filming, we were only limited to our imagination, so we thank Disney - the expert in storytelling - for giving us the privilege to revisit some of the best stories of the Disney collection," Collins said.
This isn't the first time the funny men have ventured into children's television.
In 2006 they appeared as the main characters on a the Logie Award-winning program The Upside Down Show, which aired in the United States and Australia on Nick Jr.
The third season will also include stories from Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Finding Dory, Winnie the Pooh and UP.
"What makes The Book of Once Upon A Time so special is that it gives children and their families the chance to enjoy story time together," Disney Channels' Head of Production Peter Noble said.
"We know storytelling is one of the most cherished parts of the day, and the show has been specially created as a way for parents to join their children in the magic of story-time."
The Book of Once Upon A Time premieres today at 4.55pm Qld, 5.55pm NSW on Disney Jr.
