Two boxers go to war at Ballina over super heavyweight title

WOODBURN boxer Tyler White took on Ballina's Owen Simpson in the main preliminary bout of the Ballina Island Amateur Boxing Club tournament in Ballina last month.

"It was a real war," Ballina Island trainer Denis Magnay said.

"The boxers were competing for the North Coast Junior Superheavyweight title over four rounds.

"After an even contest which consisted of power punching as a feature, Simpson took the title in a points decision."

The crowd showed its appreciation with a coin shower which was shared between the two boxers.

In other results for Woodburn boxers:

Krystal White (Woodburn) took on Cara Barnes (Casino), and then Ebony Smith (Casino), in no-decision contests.

Ethan Wilson (Woodburn) defeated Jesse Browning (Coffs Harbour) on points.
