Two killed in crash on Gold Coast Highway at Coolangatta

TWO people have been killed after a two vehicle crash at Bilinga on Sunday night.

Police said the crash occurred around 7pm on the Gold Coast Highway near the intersection of Coolangatta Road when one car travelling south crossed onto the wrong side of the road and collided with an oncoming car.

A 53-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman, both from Bilinga, travelling in the south-bound car died at the scene.

Two occupants of the second car, the driver a 47-year-old Wongawallan man and an 88-year-old New South Wales man were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

A third occupant, a 23-year-old man was uninjured.

The Gold Coast Highway was closed for more than three hours

The Forensic Crash Unit are investigating.
