TWO North Queensland Toyota Cowboys players stopped by the Mackay Base Hospital to say hi to patients at the children's ward this morning.

Four inpatients and about 12 outpatients, plus their family members, got photos and signed autographs from Johnathan Thurston and Matty Bowen just after 9am.

But they weren't the only ones excited by a visit from two of the Cowboys stars.

While en route to the children's ward, the boys popped into the renal ward to say hi and Mackay Hospital Foundation volunteers were thrilled to pose for a photo with the NRL stars.

Hospital employees also queued up to meet Thurston and Bowen, who patiently posed for photo after photo.
