Truck rollover just the start of driver’s birthday blues
IT has not been a happy birthday for the driver of a truck which rolled onto its side at Roseberry, near Kyogle, this morning.
Richmond police Inspector Nicole Bruce said the Western Queensland man, who turned 64 today, failed a breath test this morning after the incident.
Officers received reports of the rollover on Summerland Way at about 8.15am this morning, Insp Bruce said.
Police attended the scene, accompanied by the NSW Rural Fire Service, and spoke with the driver, who was lucky to avoid serious injury.
Rural Fire Service Northern Rivers operations officer Daniel Ainsworth said the vehicle received only minor damage to its passenger side.
Kyogle and Grevillea brigades offered fire protection for attending police but did not detect any fuel leaks and were not required to take any action.
Insp Bruce said the driver was taken to Kyogle Police Station, where he provided the breath test, failed and was charged with low range PCA.
The driver was issued with a court attendance notice to appear before Kyogle Local Court on May 14.
