Truck crashes on South Ballina Beach Road

FIRE Fighters and the SES spent more than two hours cleaning up after a truck delivering gas crashed near Ballina this morning.

Emergency services were called to South Ballina Beach Rd at 7.43 am following reports a truck had crashed and rolled into bush land.

NSW Fire and Rescue Ballina brigade, police, Ambulance, RFS and SES units responded to the incident.

A Newcastle Fire Communications spokesman said initial reports from the scene indicated driver of the truck, which was carrying about 20 gas cylinders, was trapped.

Paramedics treated the truck driver at the scene for minor injuries and he was taken to Ballina hospital as a precaution.

Fire fighters and Rural Fire service volunteers spent more than two hours clearing trees from around the truck so it could be salvaged.
