Tributes for revered food writer

RENOWNED food critic and writer AA Gill has died, aged 62.

The Sunday Times columnist revealed last month in his column he has been diagnosed with cancer and was receiving chemotherapy.

Sunday Times editor Martin Ivens paid tribute to "a giant among journalists” in a statement to staff.

"His wit was incomparable, his writing was dazzling and fearless, his intelligence was matched by compassion,” he wrote in a statement to staff.

Gill was well known for his witty and incisive commentary on writing on food, television, fashion and travel.
