Tree falls on moving car

A MOTORIST was rescued by a farmer early yesterday after his car was hit by a falling tree as he drove through Blue Knob, north of Nimbin.

Reporting on their Facebook page, police from the Richmond Local Area Command said the motorist was driving north along Blue Knob Road, which has an 80km/h speed limit, at Blue Knob about 6.25am yesterday when a tree fell down in front of the Mitsubishi 4WD.

The motorist tried to dodge the tree, but was unable to avoid it and ending up being pushed from the road with the tree resting on the vehicle.

A farmer came to the rescue, using his tractor to push the tree off the car and out of the road.

The driver was not hurt in the incident and the Mitsubishi was able to be driven away, having suffered some damage to its bullbar and side.

Posting on their Facebook page, police praised the actions of the farmer, describing them as "another fine example of community spirit being alive and well".
