Treasurer heeds warning not to sell electricity assets

NSW Treasurer Mike Baird has taken heed of the consumer watchdog's warnings not to allow the sale of the state's electricity assets.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission called on the NSW Government to reject AGL Energy's push to acquire the publicly owned competitor Macquarie Generation.

Speaking in NSW Parliament question time Treasurer Mike Baird said he had previously made it "very clear" that the government would not accept the proposal without the support of the ACCC and any decisions to transfer assets on the future would only be made if the state was going to receive proceeds above retention value.
