Top swimmers go for gold ... or blue

COMPETITION was high at Teven-Tintenbar Public School's swimming carnival at Ballina pool.

Swimmer Leon Elman, 12, said it was his best carnival so far.

"It's great here - so fantastic - and I just won my race," he said.

"There's plenty of support for the swimmers in every event, but the whole school knows that the blue house will win because we're the best."

Swimmer Hollie Mills disagreed, saying gold house would win.

But Leon said the day wasn't all about winning.

"If you're trying your hardest and you come last, it doesn't matter - it's that good."
