Toowoomba police charge 45yo with illegal prostitution

A WOMAN has been charged with illegal prostitution and a man with obstructing police in Toowoomba.

Investigators from State Crime Command's Licensing Enforcement Unit conducting investigations in Toowoomba charged two people yesterday afternoon.

Officers charged a 45-year-old Varsity Lakes woman with the illegal provision of prostitution and obstructing police offences.

A 59-year-old man was also charged at the premises, where prostitution was allegedly being offered.

The man was charged with obstructing police after he attempted to prevent investigating police arrest the woman.

Both are expected to appear before the Toowoomba Magistrates Court later this month.

"The Queensland Police Service will continue to target those persons providing illegal prostitution," Acting Detective Superintendent Scott Knowles of the Drug and Serious Crime Group said.

"Anyone who attempts to obstruct or prevent police officers carrying out these investigations may be arrested and face the consequences of their actions before the courts."
