Tony Abbott: 'Maybe I shouldn't have eaten that onion'

LIKE most men, Tony Abbott hates talking about his emotions.

He gets a bit uncomfortable and tries to change the topic.

He's happy to speak why the Turnbull Government should dump its renewable energy target for a reliable energy target, or why he's leading the No Campaign on same sex marriage.

He says he's "upbeat about the future" and "fine", when asked how he's doing. And, by all accounts he is.

But he couldn't have always been fine.
