Sam Tomkins will not get the chance to play against some of his former Warriors teammates after being ruled out of England's three-Test series against New Zealand, starting tomorrow.

Tomkins, who will rejoin Wigan next season after homesickness ended his two-year stint in the NRL, will not be replaced in the England squad.

The 26-year-old has not recovered from a knee injury which has kept him sidelined since August.

"It is a great shame but it wasn't to be," England coach Steve McNamara said. "Sam is devastated to miss out."

Leeds full-back Zak Hardaker, who won the 2015 Man of Steel award, is likely to keep his place in the England side for the first Test at Hull's KC Stadium.

England and New Zealand will also meet at the London Olympic Stadium on Saturday, November 7 and Wigan's DW Stadium on Saturday, November 14.
