Tomic's dad in hot water over alleged assault of Drouet

TENNIS Australia has confirmed it is working with officials from the ATP Tour to investigate reports that John Tomic, the father of leading Australian men's player, Bernard Tomic, spent time in a Madrid jail after allegedly assaulting former player Thomas Drouet.

The Frenchman was believed to be working as Bernard's hitting partner.

The news came after a Monte Carlo news outlet claimed John Tomic had struck Bernard during a public practice session in Monaco last Tuesday.

Bernard was in the Spanish capital to play in the Madrid Masters - he was beaten 6-3 6-2 in the first round by Czech Radek Stepanek
