Titans shoot down Cowboys

THE Gold Coast Titans bounced back from a sloppy start to consign the North Queensland Cowboys to a disturbing third successive NRL loss in a 13-12 result at Cbus Super Stadium last night.

Pivot and player-of-the-match Aidan Sezer sparked the Titans' second half resurgence when clever kicks led to converted tries by Kevin Gordon (42nd minute) and Brad Tighe (65th) after the visitors led 6-0 at the break.

Sezer then slotted a field goal from in front to provide the Gold Coast with breathing space in the Queensland derby, proving the difference as Cowboys prop Matt Scott rumbled over after the siren to complete the best attacking raid of the night.

The sighting of a brown snake on the touchline had hearts jumping in a rare moment of excitement in a rather uninspiring first term.

Gold Coast Titans 13 (Kevin Gordon, Brad Tighe tries; Greg Bird, Adam Sezer goals; Sezer field goal) def North Queensland Cowboys 12 (Johnathan Thurston, Matt Scott tries; Thurston 2 goals).
