Gold Coast Titans player and former Wallaby Mat Rogers opened a new $20,000 playground at the Southern Cross K-12 School’s Support Centre this morning.

“This is a great day for the school and the community because this playground has been built on the donations and dreams of our teachers, families and local businesses,” Southern Cross principal John Baker said.

The playground is a purpose-built area for children with physical and intellectual disabilities and provides a safe, controlled environment for them to play and learn in.

“We’re very thankful Mat Rogers has made time in his busy schedule to open the playground,” Mr Baker said.

“He is a parent of a child with autism and he understands how important these things are to children with special needs."
