Tight finishes dominate night

The winter swimming season is fast drawing to a close with September 26 the last designated night for the club to swim at the heated pool.

With many members away it was doubtful that the swim would be held this week but at the last moment enough competitors arrived to make it a viable night.

Birthday girl Jill Enks, made it through to the 25m final along with Doug Ensbey, David Moon and Richard Sear. First in the water on handicap, Jill held a strong lead for the entire distance, touching the finish a good second ahead of David. Unfortunately a small break of .25 was announced and even the judge couldn't help Jill so the win was awarded to David with Doug coming second and Richard third.

In the 50m final Toni Ensbey was happy to be on the blocks after weeks of not making finals. Lining up with her were Max Kroehnert, David Moon and Tyler Durrington.

Max hit the water first, followed by Toni and these two battled it out for quite a distance before David and Tyler gave chase.

As the finish drew near Max was less than half a body length ahead of Toni. Tyler snatched the lead and the win with a great 32.23 off a nominated 33.

Tyler just stayed in the water after the 50m race as he had also made the final of the 25m B B & B. Hoping Tyler had used up some of his energy were Kieran Lynch, Andrew Madden and Bruce (the old boy) Durrington.

It didn't pay to blink when this event started, with the race dusted in a split second. Tyler, Kieran and Andrew touched in that order but it was bad news for all three.

Tyler busted by 0.76, Kieran by 0.56 and Andrew by 0.44, leaving Bruceto take the win.
