Tigers take Taylor on as new coach over Griffin

FORMER Broncos mentor Anthony Griffin has been beaten to the Wests Tigers head coaching job by former goal-kicking halfback Jason Taylor, who has coached Parramatta and South Sydney in previous NRL stints.

Taylor still had a full season on his contract as Trent Robinson's assistant at the Roosters, a position Griffin may now consider with the head coaching opportunities drying up.

The Tigers also confirmed Phil Moss would take on the newly-created role of general manager of football operations, a similar position to the one he has held at Penrith. Moss also spent eight years as chief operating officer at Parramatta.

Former Dragons player and coach Nathan Brown also threw his hat in the ring for the head coaching role after Mick Potter was dumped following two years in charge.

Meanwhile, Brisbane's likely 2015 halves pairing of Anthony Milford and Ben Hunt will get a chance to represent Australia before they play for the Broncos together after being named in the Prime Minister's XIII to play PNG in Kokopo on Sunday week.

Young Panthers custodian Matt Moylan has been rewarded for a breakout season by being named at fullback, while emerging Roosters forward Dylan Napa will also wear Australian colours for the first time.
