Three more gold in the pool overnight in Glasgow

AUSTRALIA has won three gold medals on the second night of swimming at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games with one final to go.

Leiston Pickett won Australia's first gold in the 50 metre breaststroke. The London Olympian was the second quickest qualifier for the final and was behind Jamaica's Alia Atkinson for much of the lap before edging ahead in the final metres to win in 30.59 seconds.

Atkinson touched in 30.67 with Lorna Tonks, a 25-year-old Brit who is a naturalised Australian, finishing in seventh in 31.99.

Fraser-Holmes trailed teammate and national champion Cameron McEvoy for 150 metres but overhauled him over the final 25 metres to win in one minute 45.08. McEvoy touched in 1:45.56, while 400m freestyle silver medallist David McKeon continued his impressive rise with a fourth place in 1:46.74.
