Three charged with looting

DETECTIVES from Hendra CIB have charged three men with stealing offences following two incidents at Pinkenba this afternoon.

About 4pm today, police patrolling Brownley Street observed a man allegedly used his vehicle to drag a pontoon to the river bank to retrieve a dinghy. The 67-year-old man from Roselea has been issued with a Notice to Appear for stealing by looting.

About an hour later police located two men, aged 19 and 20, allegedly attempt to steal a 10 foot dinghy from the Brisbane River near Marina Street. The two men, both from Wynnum, have also been issued with a Notice to Appear for stealing by looting.

All three men will appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court with the 19 and 20-year-olds to appear on February 16, while the 67-year-old will appear on February 15.

Police warn that any person located stealing property displaced by the flood situation in the greater Brisbane region will be arrested and prosecuted.
