LENNOX Head front-rower Benn Wright has been rewarded with a trip to the United States after joining the NSW Country Rugby Union team.
Wright missed out on selection with the Cockatoos for the 2014 representative season but made a big enough impression to be added to the end-of-year tour in October.
Wollongbar-Alstonville Pioneers five-eighth Ben Damen was the only Far North Coast player in the NSW Country team this season.
Pioneers teammate Steve Mison has also been added to the side.
The selection of Wright came as no surprise to Lennox Head first grade coach Jason McCombie.
"Benny is really happy and he definitely deserves it," McCombie said.
"He has been great for us this season and really lifted the team.
"We rate him pretty highly as a player and he's a great bloke too."
Wright spent a couple of years in Cobar before moving back to Ballina in the off-season for a high school teaching position.
He played some games with Southern Cross University in the past but played most of his rugby in Cobar.
"A great thing about him is he's been a really good mentor," McCombie said.
"He has spent a lot of time refereeing and coaching junior players.
"He trains pretty hard for a front-rower and worked really hard in the off-season."
The team will travel along the west coast with four games in Long Beach, San Diego and San Francisco.
They leave on October 29 and return on November 13.
