Emotion floods new album

THE impact Toowoomba floods had on one of Australia's best voices Kate Miller-Heidke will resonate forever when her new album is launched in April.

Ms Miller-Heidke and her Toowoomba-raised husband and co-songwriter Keir Nuttall decided to go into hiding to write her new album, Nightflight.

They gave away the hectic tour schedule, deciding to leave behind London and head for Toowoomba at the end of 2010 to begin the writing process.

What they didn't expect, just like so many other Toowoomba residents, was the tragic events which swept through the Garden City in January last year.

The first track on the new album, Ride the Feeling, describes the couples' experience during the Toowoomba floods.

"The song is about drinking," Ms Miller-Heidke said laughing.

"On the night of the floods, we went to the pub because you just felt like you wanted to be with people at that point.

"On that particular night, there was electricity in the air, but in the days following I started to feel isolated, not being able to help my friends and family whose houses had flooded."
