CHANGE OF LUCK: Luck has changed at the Ballina Jockey Club since the horseshoe on the finish line was turned around last week.

The flip side of luck

THE Ballina Jockey Club’s luck has changed, it seems, and it could be put down to the horseshoe on the finish line at the racecourse.

The club recently had the iconic horseshoe turned around from its previous position after the club received comments the horseshoe was upside down.

And the first race meeting to be held after the flip – last Friday’s Ballina Bracelet and the Ballina Tourism and Hospitality Cup – was held in fine weather.

That was good news since the events were washed out last year – even after being transferred to another racecourse.

All up, nine events at the club have been washed out in the past financial year.
