Teens to be charged for targeting helicopter with laser

A GROUP of teenagers have apparently picked the wrong target for their laser pointer, flashing the powerful beam at a Victorian police helicopter.

After apparently shining the light at the chopper at 10pm on Saturday, police moved swiftly to track the blue Ford sedan they were driving and intercept those inside.

Four men were taken to the nearby police station after the laser was discovered inside.

Three men in their late teens are expected to be charged with conduct endangering life, interfering with an aircraft and possessing a prohibited weapon.

Conduct endangering life alone carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

The fourth man escaped without charge.
