Teen set for record-breaking V8 season
MOTORSPORT: Perth teenager Alex Rullo is set to become the youngest Supercars driver after signing for Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport for this season.
The Year 12 student competed for LDM in last year's second-tier Dunlop Series as a 15-year-old.
He finished 17th in that series after seven races.
This year, the 16-year-old he will be not only studying for his high school exams but could be taking to the track with V8 superstars Jamie Whincup, Craig Lowndes and Shane van Gisbergen, something he is looking forward to.
"Being the youngest driver in the field is going to give me such a great opportunity and enable me to learn as much as possible at a young age, which is something that I am extremely grateful for,” Rullo said.
"I'm honoured to be sharing the stage with some of the best drivers in the most competitive touring car championship in the world.
"I have massive respect for all of them and look forward to using them as a benchmark.”
The Supercars season begins on March 2 with the Clipsal 500 Adelaide.
