Teacher accused of abusing students

A FORMER Ipswich teacher has been accused of luring teenage students with alcohol and drugs in order to indecently deal with them, a court was told.

Police allege the 43-year-old man "groomed" three 15-year-old boys at a private Ipswich boys' college more than 15 years ago.

The man appeared at Brisbane Magistrates Court yesterday and applied for bail, which police prosecutors opposed.

Police said the teacher would lure the boys with alcohol and drugs to an Ipswich house to help him renovate.

He would then "groom" the boys by giving them drugs and alcohol, watching pornographic films with them and encouraging them to perform sexual acts, the court heard.

He has been charged with 18 offences including indecent treatment of children under 16, supplying dangerous drugs to a minor and giving stupefying drugs to children with intent to commit an offence.
