RUGBY LEAGUE: International stars Jason Taumalolo, of the Cowboys, and Valentine Holmes, of the Sharks, have flown to the United States after the Four Nations final to take part in NFL trials.

The Cowboys yesterday confirmed the Kiwis' reigning joint-Dally M Medal winner Taumalolo would "undergo testing in front of NFL scouts”.

"Jason has done this with the full backing of the club, and in consultation with the player's management,” the club said in a statement.

Holmes has enjoyed a golden run, being a part of the Kangaroos' Four Nations triumph after playing in the Sharks' NRL premiership.

Taumalolo first spoke publicly about his American football aspirations in January this year before enjoying his best NRL season.

"Maybe in the off-season we will see what happens there,” Taumalolo told Fox Sports

"A few boys last off-season went and had trials so it will be interesting to see what happens next off-season.

"I guess it's a long-term thing, (but) Cowboys are my main priority.”
