PRESSURE is mounting on Bundaberg businesses to enhance their online branding and profitability, with a quarter of Australians buying online every week and 53% of Australians buying online at least once a month.

Twine Marketing's Lisa Blainey-Lewin is tackling the challenge head-on with her cutting-edge Marketing Strategy Workshop 1.03, to be run in Bundaberg in May, as part of a statewide roll-out.

Mrs Blainey-Lewin said most small business owners knew an internet presence could improve sales and branding, especially against growing online competitors, but most did not have a clue where to start, daunted by the complicated social media labyrinth and the need to write blogs and copy and connect with multiple media channels.

"I constantly run into local business owners who know an improved online presence would improve sales and branding, but they don't know how to go about it, or are fearful of wasting thousands of dollars," Mrs Blainey-Lewin said.

"Marketing Strategy Workshop 1.03 reveals the basics and saves time. We help business owners find their unique selling angles, show them how to write a media release, and then refine that as copy for blogs and social media channels."

Workshop co-presenter and Bundaberg resident Cherie Curtis, who worked as a journalist and sub-editor for 15 years, including seven years with the NewsMail, said it was important for businesses not to neglect traditional media.

"A business can publish anything on their own website, but people aren't going to read it unless it attracts their attention - or if they can find it in the first place," Mrs Curtis said.

The Marketing Strategy 3.01 Workshop will be held at the School of Arts Building, Bundaberg, on May 14 and 15 from 10am until 4pm.

Early bird bookings can be made by visiting twinemarketing. com/md103 or phone Mrs Blainey-Lewin on 0422 584 046.
