Suspended Tweed police officer charged with drink driving

A SUSPENDED Tweed shire police officer has been charged with high range drink-driving.

On Sunday, the 48-year-old was arrested in relation to an alleged drink-driving incident.

A NSW police spokeswoman said the officer was breath-tested at Tweed Heads and returned a high range reading of 0.173%.

"Police suspended the man's driver's licence and released him pending the serving of a future court attendance notice," the statement said.

"He will appear in Tweed Heads Local Court on a date to be fixed for driving with a high-range prescribed concentration of alcohol (PCA) and other driving offences."

Investigations are continuing into the matter.

The officer had been suspended on an unrelated matter.
