LENNOX Head surfer Mikey McDonagh has finished fourth in the final of the Rip Curl Grom Search in Cronulla.

About 150 surfers competed in the event from across NSW with McDonagh flying the flag for Far North Coast in the finals.

He was the only FNC surfer to make a final finishing fourth in the under-12s boys division.

It was won by Bulli surfer Keanu Miller who registered a score of 15.30 (out of a possible 20).

McDonagh was a standout earlier in the competition when he made it through to the final day after winning his heat with 17.67.

McDonagh is a member of the Lennox-Ballina Boardriders club and has had a bumper year in various state-wide events.

It is his last year in U12 competition with only a handful of events left this year.

The Grom Search continues this month with the next stop at Jan Juc in Victoria.

Meanwhile, Lennox Head surfer Tyler Wright is gearing up for the final women's World Championship Tour event of 2013.

A big performance in Portugal could see her crowned world champion.
