Surfer rushed to hospital after being dumped by wave

A SURFER was rushed to hospital with suspected spinal injuries after an incident at Flat Rock.

The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter says it was called to the scene after the surfer was hurt about 11.30am on Sunday.

The helicopter says the man, 58, was injured when he was dumped by a wave while surfing at the Flat Rock beach.

He was treated at the scene by a doctor and paramedic at the scene before being driven to Lismore Base Hospital in stable condition by a road ambulance.
