Super hot Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2

THIS week's blog is on a flaming 2012 Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2.

This bull is equipped with a 5.2-litre, 40 valve 10 cylinder engine which can produce up to 405 kilowatts (550 horsepower) @ 8000rpm and 538 Newton metres of torque (397 pound-feet of torque) @ 6500rpm. This engine has now been powering the Gallardo for more than 4 years, but it is still going strong.

Connected to the engine is a six-speed automated-manual transmission that sends all the power to the rear wheels. This transmission also provides manual shifting paddles that are located on the steering column. This particular Gallardo also has a dry weight of 1380 kilograms.

This allows the Gallardo LP550-2 to launch from 0-100 kilometres per hour in just 3.9 seconds, and it will keep accelerating until it reaches its top speed of 320 kilometres per hour (199 miles per hour).

The Gallardo LP550-2 is actually the first rear-wheel drive Lamborghini since the Diablo, which ended production with the Diablo VT 6.0 in 2001.

In the name of this Lambo, the LP stands for Longitudinale Posteriore, which is the engine position, the 550 stands for the PS (German for horsepower) and the 2 represents the rear-wheel drive.

The LP550-2 has three power and transmission settings that are 'Auto', 'Sport' and 'Corsa'.

Auto and Sport mode are mainly for city driving and for in traffic, whereas Corsa mode is for the track! It sets the transmission to shift as fast as possible, and removes some of the traction control so you can get some sideways action around the corners.

Some other features that this LP550-2 is equipped with includes variable intermittent wipers, an electronic raising rear spoiler, 19-inch, 10-spoke 'Apollo' alloy wheels wrapped in performance tires, double-wishbone front and rear suspension, a front and rear stabilizer bar, 4-wheel ABS as well as traction and stability control, xenon headlights, electronic brake force distribution, seatbelt pretensioners, a leather interior with front sport seats, Arancio Borealis metallic paint, dual-zone climate controls for the driver and passenger and much more.

You can currently buy this exact 2012 Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 for $399,000.
