Gold Coast Suns waiting before making Gary Ablett decision

AFL: The Gold Coast Suns will seek specialist advice before deciding on the best course of action for champion midfielder Gary Ablett.

The club's medical team reviewed the results of scans taken on his dislocated left shoulder yesterday, but general manager of football operations Marcus Ashcroft said more information was needed to determine the best course of action.

Ablett would miss the rest of the season if he opted for surgery, or up to four weeks if he elected to return without having an operation.

Meanwhile, the immediate playing future of Hawthorn defender Brian Lake will be decided by the tribunal.

Lake was charged with misconduct by the Match Review Panel for his third quarter choke hold on North Melbourne's Drew Petrie (pictured) in Friday's game.

Essendon utility Brendon Goddard, Lions midfielder Tom Rockliff and West Coast forward Josh Kennedy will all miss one game with early guilty pleas to their charges.
