Gold Coast Suns suspend three for breaking alcohol rules

GOLD Coast has suspended three of its young stars, Trent Mckenzie, Harley Bennell and Brandon Matera, for breaching strict team drinking rules.

Despite the players being instructed to avoid alcohol after the side's win over Brisbane last Saturday, the three players were spotted drinking on Sunday.

The trio will be stood down from Saturday's home round-six clash with Adelaide.

"The player leadership group advised the coaches on Monday that they had challenged a group of players who had failed to live up to the standards agreed upon following Saturday's match," Suns football manager Marcus Ashcroft said yesterday.
